Do these mensa members have any idea that democratic socialism is firmly entrenched in Canadian politics and national identity? For example, we all pay taxes so that in times of illness, any Canadian can walk into a hospital and present a card that our provincial government provides us for free. With this card, we may see a doctor, undergo diagnostic testing, surgeries, or stay in a hospital without paying anything out of pocket. We also are entitled to a family doctor who will not charge us per visit, and access to health practitioners such as a physiotherapist. In my province, we also have a pharmacare program so those in need have their prescription drug expenses subsidized.

Our universal healthcare is so appreciated in this country that Tommy Douglas, the social-democratic politician who brought about North America’s first universal healthcare program, was voted in 2004 as the “Greatest Canadian” by a popular national survey held by the CBC.

In Canada, we are proud of the fact that we make effort to take care of each other. If you can’t stomach Obamacare, you sure as hell can’t stomach Canadian Medicare.

As a footnote, I’d almost pay money to see the reaction of these people to gay military weddings held on Canadian Forces bases.

Canada, I apologize that all the idiots appear to be migrating in your direction. Maybe some of them will get lost and die in Vermont on the way and you won’t have to deal with them.
